Privacy Policy

Pricewise helps you compare grocery prices. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to remove it. Plain-English summary: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and payments are handled entirely by Apple and Google — we never see your card.

What we collect

• Account — your email address, display name and sign-in method (email, Google or Apple), stored with Google Firebase.
• App data — shopping lists, favorites, preferred stores, saved shopping locations (a ZIP code or a GPS snapshot you choose to save), search radius, reward points and settings, synced to your private Firebase account node.
• Location — used only when you ask (finding stores near you). Coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap's Overpass API and, rounded to roughly a 7-mile area, to our price-search provider to localize prices. We do not track your location in the background.
• Receipt photos — if you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to TabScanner for text extraction. The extracted store, item and price data (never the photo, never your identity) is added to a shared anonymous price database that helps all users see real prices.
• Subscription status — whether Premium is active, via RevenueCat. Payment itself happens in Apple's App Store or Google Play; we never receive your card or bank details.

What we do NOT do

• No selling or renting your data. No advertising or ad trackers. No background location tracking. No collecting contacts, photos (beyond receipts you scan) or browsing history.

Service providers we rely on

• Google Firebase — sign-in and data sync
• Cloudflare — hosts this API proxy and its 24-hour price cache
• SearchAPI.io — product/price search (receives your search text and approximate area, never your identity)
• TabScanner — receipt text extraction (receives the receipt photo)
• RevenueCat — subscription receipt validation (receives an anonymous user id and store receipts)
• Apple App Store / Google Play — all payment processing
• OpenStreetMap Overpass & Zippopotam.us — store lookup and ZIP geocoding (receive coordinates or ZIP only)

Payments & subscriptions

Premium ($4.99/month or $44.99/year, 7-day free trial) is billed by Apple or Google through your store account. Cancel anytime in your device's subscription settings (iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions · Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions). Refunds are handled by Apple/Google under their policies.

Retention & deleting your data

Your data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account anytime in the app (Profile → Delete my account) — this immediately and permanently erases your account and all personal data from our servers. See account deletion for details. Anonymous price entries from receipt scans are not linked to your identity and remain in the shared database. Cached search results expire automatically within 24 hours.

Children

Pricewise is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and the date above.
